Ingredients

  • 1 avocado

Instructions

  • Wash the avocado: Rinse the avocado under cool running water to remove any dirt or debris from the skin.
  • Secure the avocado: Place the avocado on a cutting board, holding it steady with one hand.
  • Slice lengthwise: Using a sharp knife, carefully cut through the avocado lengthwise until you feel the knife hit the pit. Rotate the avocado, keeping the knife in contact with the pit, until you've made a complete cut around the fruit.
  • Twist and separate: Gently twist the two halves in opposite directions to separate them. One half should contain the pit, while the other should be pit-free.
  • Remove the pit: Using just your fingers, frame the pit with your index and middle finger, with your thumb positioned on the back of the avocado behind the pit. Apply gentle pressure, and voila! The pit pops out effortlessly
  • Scoop out the flesh: Using a spoon, gently scoop the flesh out of each avocado half, starting from the end opposite the stem. The flesh should easily separate from the skin.
  • Slice, dice, or mash: Once you've scooped out all the flesh, you can slice, dice, or mash it according to your recipe or preference.
